ABOUT US

Our story began back in 1996 when I had been “challenged” by a training student of mine regarding smaller dogs vs. larger dogs.  At the time I had only trained Doberman Pinschers.

I began thinking about a smaller breed, one that compliments our lives with Dobermans but also had unique qualities that differentiated them.  Having owned a Border Collie mix previously, they were high on my list.

I spent three years studying the breed and looking for just the right puppy from just the right breeder.  Finally in 2000 I brought home Ch. Pikkupaimenen Peppermint Twist CD, RA, CGC, TT as a puppy from Finland.  While she was only bred twice, the Pikkupaimenen bloodlines were the foundation for my breeding program and their breeder Sari became one of my dearest friends and mentor in the breed.

In the 23 years since, Wescot Border Collies have become known as well rounded, versatile dogs who compete successfully at competitive levels of performance events such as Obedience, Rally, and Agility, as well as Conformation. In addition to breeding, and showing my own Border Collies I also show for others.

Although my love for the Doberman Pinscher has never disappeared, and my breeding program for my Border Collies is first and foremost in my dog activities, I have always enjoyed learning about other breeds and in recent years became involved with two lesser known breeds.  I had been watching and admiring the Xoloitzcuintli breed for many years, and in 2017 a friend contacted me to tell me he might finally have the right puppy for me.  Home came “Fia” HiFi’s Krislyn Fiasco.  In three short years the road she has taken me on has been the most exciting one I’ve travelled in my 30 years in purebred dogs.  She is funny, smart, and gorgeous and we have had a great time tackling a variety of sports.  At the time I brought Fia home, I had been considering adding a Small Munsterlander to my menagerie, but the opportunity to have Fia took precedence.  Luckily I live by the premise “Life is too short”. So a year later, when I came across a Small Munsterlander puppy, home she (and her brother) came!  She is a great balance to the Xolo and the Border Collies and is my constant companion.
